July Brother of the Month: Brian Bond ’21

  • Hometown: Montclair, New Jersey
  • School: Wharton
  • Major: Finance
  • Favorite thing about Sigma Chi: My brothers
  • Fun fact: My last name is Bond, but I’ve never seen a James Bond movie
  • Position: Kustos

Our second Brother of the Month features Brother Brian Bond ’21. Bond, as he is known to the chapter, is as loyal a brother as they come. Serving now as Kustos for his second consecutive term, he is one of the leading voices in the chapter regarding decisions about rush, social, and philanthropy.

During his first two years at Penn, Bond was a member of the Varsity Football Team, where he sported #79 and played on the Defensive Line. One of the highlights of his time on the team was the team’s trip to China. In the Spring of 2019, the team travelled to Shanghai to play in the Penn-China Global Ambassadors Bowl. Other than handily defeating the American Football League of China (AFLC) All-Stars with a final score 85 to zip, Bond and the other members of the team got to take in the Chinese culture for a whole week (as seen in the photo at the top of the page).

As a rising senior, Bond now focuses his time on his studies. He is concentrating in finance in the Wharton School and plans to join the financial services industry upon graduation. This summer, he is interning at Morgan Stanley, as a Fixed Income Sales and Trading Analyst. With the last name “Bond,” it seems he was born for the job.

It will be hard to imagine somebody replacing Bond in the role of Kustos after he graduates this school year. The Kustos (sergeant-at-arms) is trusted with the task of preserving the privacy of the chapter’s rituals. Embracing this role, it has become something of an inside joke among members of the chapter to call upon Bond any time we fear that chapter secrets are “at risk” of discovery. However, when he is truly called upon, we can always count on him to be ready to protect the fraternity he loves.
