Our August Brother of the Month is Brother Gavin Geib ‘21.  Always quick to greet someone with a smile, Gavin is known throughout campus for his outgoing, yet humble, personality.  Hailing from Houston, Texas, Gavin plays tight end on the Penn football team.  In addition to his contributions on the gridiron, Gavin has played a big role in the Phi Phi Chapter.  Serving as our Consul (President) his senior year, Gavin is well respected in the chapter for his fair and decisive leadership. To many in the chapter, including those writing this article, he is described as a “dad to the chapter.”

GainsTM By Gavin

One might say Gavin was born to be a Sigma Chi. His father, Brother Greg Geib ‘87, served as Consul for the Phi Phi Chapter during his own senior year at Penn. He went on to raise his son with the same values he developed as a member and leader of the chapter. When Gavin came to Penn, the choice was clear for him to join arms with his father and pledge Sigma Chi.

Gavin is not the only athlete in his family. After all, his father played football at Penn, as well, splitting his time between the chapter house and Franklin Field. While Gavin and his brother, Pete, both played under the Friday night lights at Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas, only Gavin went on to keep playing football. Pete pursued a different athletic feat: baseball. Pete is now a junior infielder playing for the University of Texas Baseball Team.

World explorer

Despite the hectic schedule associated with leading a fraternity and a football team, Gavin still finds time to excel in his studies and post-graduation pursuits. Gavin studies finance in the Wharton School, and he is pursuing investment banking upon graduating. Last summer, he worked as an intern for Centerview Partners in New York, and he plans to return full-time. Brains and brawn, huh?

If you read this far, you are probably Gavin. Thanks for tuning in and see you next month.
